Philip Graham I am now officially obsessed with this band's music. I pray there is no cure.
Favorite track: Crossrail Drive
Emily Violet
Emily Violet thumbnail
Emily Violet Released as I was leaving my village for university life in London and perfectly encapsulates that nervous sort of magic. Favorite track: Bird In Your House.
Deidre House
Deidre House thumbnail
Deidre House Elysian Fields- a difficult act to categorize. More or less a hybrid between dream pop and indie folk on this album, still with their subtly jazzy touch. Definitely lighter and more accessible than my usual fare, and I can't really identify what draws me in- check them out and maybe you'll see. Favorite track: Cost Of Your Soul.

Someone once told me what it means When a bird comes into your house Is it an omen Is it a curse Oh I can’t recall, can’t recall But in this little story That’s just what occurred A strange bird who flew in from afar She circled the eaves as if she couldn’t decide Weaving in and out of the window Finally she settled for a short time On the south side by the torn curtain The race of her breast, the twitch of her head Suggested that she could be hurting But what can you do for a strange little soul Whose language isn’t your own Then she started to sing, sing the strangest things Of a life, a life that was borrowed And you heard about things That you couldn’t believe Still you needed to hear every song What does it mean, what does it mean When a bird comes into your house What does it mean, what does it mean When a bird comes into your house She flew up the chimney, beating her wings A sound ever so unsettling A few moments later she just brushed your head Round and round the rafters she flew And you sat so still, holding your breath And told your heart to stop beating She swooped down, then there she was Perched in your hand, there she was She swooped down, then there she was Perched in your hand, there she was Her feathers were filthy Like a cape of dust But she smelled of almonds and earth You could see flecks of blue shimmering through A strange little bird, there she was Oh did you ever hold a bird in your hand A hand where she happened to land Someone once told me what it’s worth But I can’t recall, can’t recall I can’t recall, can’t recall

Rosy Path 03:11
Why you gotta leave me In the shallows baby Had an understanding of what follows, baby I’ll lead you down the rosy path All that we wish will come to pass Don’t overthink it and don’t blink It’s all happening Silently I’m keeping All these secrets, baby Offshore banking, the perfect setting baby I’ll lead you down the rosy path All that we wish will come to pass Don’t overthink it and don’t blink It’s all happening As elusive and far as an ancient meteor How will I ever guess Where you choose to fall You showered me in light A mirror to the night So come down on me Way down on me I could paint a picture But that’s too easy baby Quoting mighty scripture What’s that proving baby I’ll lead you down the rosy path All that you wish will come to pass Don’t overthink it and don’t blink It’s all happening

Taking a ride in the country I don’t mind going slowly The smell of grass and trees And dancing leaves tickling my nose I love a skunk by the roadside When he’s warning off his foes Intoxicating, heady arousal The animals know And when I pass a reservoir I play out a little fantasy No man exists, not even me A time before discovery And the clouds set me free again As they aimlessly drifting Nowhere to be No one to see The animals know Maybe I’m never coming back On these country roads I might lose my track On these country roads I might erase my tracks Spider balanced on the Queen’s lace Butterfly sipping from a pond Oh how we breathe the mystery The animals know Maybe I’m never coming back On these country roads I might lose my track On these country roads I might erase my tracks
4.
Are you afraid Afraid of the dark You’re taking a dip And one slip You’re swimming with sharks Before my eyes Words, they are swimming If you won’t There’s someone else who’s willing And the view From high up can be thrilling You and I could surely make a killing Won’t you sign please Ignore the conditions The cost of your soul is the cost of admission I followed a word The word of the seasons She whispers endure But gives me no reason A one way trip Can just get you so far The tissue has hardened and stiffened Turning to thick scar How can I How I can lead them? Dragging a stone up a hill Ain’t much to believe in So I keep pushing Some call it ambition The cost of your soul is the cost of admission If there was a town For roaming outliers I’d be cutting a rug with you, babe Instead of these wires There once was a star That dreamed of flotation Slept in a wine dark sea of lower sensation God bless the trees God bless the branches Spread your message beyond invisible dances Hiding your roots below ground Don’t take no chances And that star had a premonition The cost of your soul is the cost of admission
5.
If I was a fly, on a frog, in the sky, on a pad On a lake of olden Days I would count Days I would grow Days I would call for mother Starve the night Hope for light Brother and I How heavy our eyelids Cold in the sun It’s cold in the sun We can’t undo what has been done Even now, scratches soft The traps in my head And the roof lifts off Off with their heads Can’t stay in bed Sick of counting cars Is she never coming home For her babies Ghosts of no Fragments show Hunted by the creek in Burke, Virginia I want to be touched I want to be moved I want to be felt and feeling Here’s where I’ll die Here is where I’ll die Won’t you help me To reach the sky
6.
Higher Power 03:27
You’re just the proof All boys aren’t created equal I’ll build a church around your holy steeple I give myself to a higher power It’s nature, opening this flower It’s nature opening this flower Sleepwalking clouds Fade in and out of being Recall a sun Of coral endless dreaming I give myself to a higher power It’s nature opening this flower It’s nature, opening this flower Far away, a morning star Undresses light and caresses Castaway breezes Pledge themselves to dark tresses A cape of snow On branches pale and leaning Dance to their death Encrypting deeper meanings Forces collide Become a supernova Like birds, we glide All emerald seas of clover I give myself to a higher power It’s nature Opening this flower
7.
When I take an interest Don’t call it a hobby My mouth is clairvoyant So you’d better absolve me Can’t you see baby You don’t understand me ’Cause I’m misunderstood Don’t tangle your britches When dealing with witches We’re just misunderstood Misunderstood They say I’ve got tough love But I can be tender So thankless, tough love If it’s broke, I can mend her When measuring potions It’s all about doses Too much can be poison Inducing psychosis Can’t you see baby You don’t understand me ’Cause I’m misunderstood Don’t tangle your britches When dealing with witches We’re just misunderstood Misunderstood
8.
The Magician 02:50
Oh you’re some kind of conjurer To summon me from the ether Now what you gonna do with me Suddenly you’ve got your hands full The world comes to a standstill The moon could be a spotlight As she trains her cool white hot light In our veins Shining her wild and strange approval I’m more than a handful Transformed into an animal Electrified by the charge Wildlife at large His wrists twist The silk whorls A white dove unfurls The wand taps The charm cast The future encased in the past Oh you’re some kind of conjurer To summon me from the ether You know me First in line to be sawed in half Sacrifice the golden calf There is dazzle in that staff On whose tip electrons dance Sleepwalking in a trance Sleepwalking in a trance Sleepwalking in a trance
9.
Don’t you wanna get through the night Something said for sleeping Instead you choose to fight And I’m catching the chill Off this windowpane Pelted left and right with your acid rain It’s going to take a mess of mistakes to get off And I can’t afford To trip on my sword or get lost Someone’s in the doghouse Show some puppy love You know it could be our house In there lies the rub And you’re annihilated by the smallest thing Cause secretly all you want to do is sing It’s going to take a mess of mistakes to get off And I can’t afford to piss off the Lord anymore Once again I’m sorry Something that I said Now we’re both exhausted Wishing we was dead The fact there’s life so beautiful makes it worse When we’re lost to the sun Like we’re under a curse Can I get a timeout Can I call a truce Say this is a tryout Just a wild deuce Cause I’m getting better all the time Pretty soon these little ducks Are gonna stand in line It’s going to take a mess of mistakes to get off And I can’t afford to trip on my sword or get lost It’s going to take a mess of mistakes
10.
You’re the window of the ocean The breath of the wood With no waste away and no yesterday No bad and no good You’re the eighth wonder of the world The only kind of sight to see Took a taste, like I was fed a pearl Filled me to eternity Eternity moves like an invisible train Moving the sidewalks Floating the rain Sweet seed of beauty oh how she yields In Elysian Fields Elysian Fields Now I’m walking, oh so slowly Like I’ll never arrive It’s the only way of being Forever alive You’re the eighth wonder of the world The only kind of sight to see Luxuriate in every wild curl Every new design she brings In every design she’s painting your fate She will unfold, she will dilate Sweet seed of beauty oh how she yields In Elysian Fields Elysian Fields The piano player knows all your numbers And waking is sweeter, sweeter than slumber You’ve culled a light from a lifeless stone You’re not alone, you’re not alone There is no death, there is no form Only the source you’ve known all along Sweet seed of beauty oh how she yields In Elysian Fields Elysian Fields

I did not rush to be seen Floating in mother’s warm dark sea Endlessly My resistance wore down on a Friday Near noon Piercing the light too soon Too soon Mostly not visible but to the air Mostly not visible but to the air I met the world slowly Slowly Thought I was a stowaway Caressed me into being For nearly nothing Thought I was a stowaway Guess I was a stowaway Mostly not visible but to the air Shadow of the living light Shadow of the living light
